I. Brief Introduction to the Characteristics of Insulating Glass
Insulating glass is a combination of two or more pieces of glass. The space between glass and glass is insulated from the outside by sealant, which contains air or other special gases.
Insulating glass has excellent heat and sound insulation performance, and is much lighter than brick wall or concrete wall. Insulating glass is widely used for energy saving in buildings because of its irreplaceable superiority.
Excellent thermal insulation performance: Even if the insulating glass is 3mm glass + 12mm air layer + 3mm glass, its thermal insulation capacity is no less than 100mm thick concrete wall, using thicker glass, or three-layer glass plus two-layer air layer, the thermal insulation performance is better.
Excellent sound insulation performance: generally can make noise attenuation about 30 decibels, the highest can make noise attenuation about 50 decibels.
The Insulating glass with high quality glass structure should be composed of two or more pieces of glass, corresponding high quality glass sheets, high strength and air tightness bonded sealant, high quality aluminium alloy spacer frame and desiccant. The two or more pieces of glass should be sealed twice to form insulating glass products. The technological process is as follows: auto-forming and filling desiccant for the aluminium spacer bar frame around the glass, coating butyl sealant on the frame; auto-cleaning the original glass sheet, the upper aluminium spacer bar frame, plywood and pressing sheet, so that two or more original sheets are bonded together with the aluminium spacer bar frame through butyl sealant and form the first seal; finally, auto-mixing and auto-sealing machine is used to mix glue and glue. The second seal is made up of two-component sealant. The required sealing and strength can be achieved by controlling the sealing width, and the gas layer in the insulating glass can be kept dry for a long time to avoid condensation or frosting. The national standard requires that no condensation or frosting can occur in the insulating glass when the test temperature reaches (-40 C). In addition, the manufacturer should guarantee that no dew or frost will form inside the glass for five or ten years.
2. How to choose insulating glass:
1). Species and specifications: mainly refers to the thickness and variety of two pieces of glass, and the thickness of air layer between two pieces of glass.
2). Glass thickness: Depending on the area and size of the largest piece of glass in doors and windows, larger glass should be thicker; tall buildings should be a little thicker than multi-storey buildings; coastal areas with typhoons and inland areas with larger wind and sand should be a little thicker. Local climate conditions and floors should be taken into account when choosing.
3). Color: In the interior, it should be coordinated with the color of the room; in the outdoor, it should also be considered with the color of the exterior wall of the building. Apart from transparency, the common colors of glass are grey, blue-grey, blue, green, gold, silver-grey and brown. It needs good heat insulation effect and should be coated. You can go outside to observe the coated glass doors and windows of office buildings, commercial buildings, hotels and high-end residential buildings, in order to compare what color is more appropriate.
4). Geographical climate: local climate and environmental conditions should be taken into account. Is the building in the north or in the south? What floor are they on? The direction of the window door? How far is the window from the building opposite? The building is near the roadside, or there are noise sources nearby and so on.
5). Heat insulation performance: Require good heat insulation performance, should use coated glass, strictly speaking, heat reflection coated glass. Thermal reflection coated glass is the most productive and used glass in coated glass. The higher the heat reflectivity and endothermic performance, the better the heat insulation performance; the thicker the air layer in the middle, the better the heat insulation performance. Two problems need to be understood and considered here. First, coated glass has different colors, shades and degrees of light transmission and heat insulation. High thermal insulation performance, closed glass doors and windows, indoor darker, in short, in the daytime has varying degrees of influence on indoor light. Second, during the day, from outside to inside, the outdoor scenery can be seen clearly from inside, but the indoor scenery can not be seen (except for some low reflectivity and light color). In the evening when the indoor light is bright and the outdoor light is dark, the indoor scenery can be seen outdoors just like the installation of white glass, but it is darker than white glass, while it is more difficult to see the outdoor night scenery from the indoor.
6). Sound insulation performance: the glass is thicker, sound insulation performance is better; the inner and outer glass with different thickness is better than the same thickness; the middle air layer is thicker, sound insulation effect is better.
7). Safety: There are two main points. First, consider not increasing the thickness, want to increase the strength of glass a little more, or hope that the strength does not decrease and use thin glass, you can use semi-toughened or toughened glass; if special requirements for safety, you can use sandwich glass, or even semi-toughened (or tempered) sandwich glass. Of course, the cost is a little higher. The second is to design some decorative patterns within the range of 1.2 m to 1.4 m above the ground on glass doors and balcony doors (there are different methods: etching, grinding, sandblasting, printing, decals, etc.). One is beautiful, the other is to give a clear message: Here is the glass, be careful!!! In places where children play, the design is lower and better.
8). Customization and Quality Assurance: Insulating glass is fixed-size glass, can not buy glass back to cut and install, can only be customized to insulating glass manufacturers. In order to use comfortably in the future, we must find a regular insulating glass manufacturer. Because the quality of insulating glass is very important, if the glass surface between two pieces of glass is not clean or the film quality of coated glass is not good, it can only be seen that there is no way to deal with after installation; if the air layer of insulating glass is not dry, or the sealing around is not good, water will enter after several months or years. Then when the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor is large, it will lead to dew, fog or frost inside the insulating glass, and even mildew and mildew, which can only be done staring at. In addition, when installing window frames or doorframes, attention should be paid to the cooperation and sealing with glass. There should be drainage holes at the bottom of frames, so that water can not accumulate.
